Keeping the health conversations alive at home

Healthcare experiences can bring a wide range of emotions for children and families — including curiosity, uncertainty, worry, bravery, overwhelm, and connection. Sometimes knowing how to start those conversations can feel difficult.

The BB Crew was created to help make those conversations feel a little gentler, more open, and easier to navigate together. Through story, characters, and shared language, Bill’s Hospital Adventure: Every Feeling Matters helps children explore feelings and everyday healthcare experiences in ways that feel safe, supportive, and age-appropriate.

Whether your child is:

  • Preparing for a hospital visit

  • Attending regular appointments

  • Supporting a sibling or loved one

  • Processing a healthcare experience

  • Or simply learning about hospitals and feelings

The BB Crew aims to support connection, conversation, and emotional understanding along the way.

A gentle conversation starter

Rather than focusing on diagnosis or medical procedures, the story centres on everyday moments children may experience - asking questions, meeting helpers, resting at night, attending hospital school, and navigating new environments and feelings.

This allows many children and families to see themselves reflected within the story in different ways.

The BB Crew encourages children and the adults around them to keep the health conversation alive in ways that feel natural, flexible, and supportive.

Parent and family resources are currently being developed to help support meaningful conversations around feelings, wellbeing, healthcare experiences, and connection at home.

Support is always available

The BB Crew provides tools and resources to help keep the health conversation alive. Every child, family and situation is unique. If you have concerns about your child’s health, wellbeing or development, we encourage you to seek personalised advice from your GP, healthcare team, school, specialist or other trusted support services.

Part of keeping the health conversation alive is knowing when to ask questions, seek guidance and reach out for additional support. While we aim to share helpful information and resources, The BB Crew is not a healthcare provider and cannot provide individual medical, health or mental health advice. The information provided on this website is general in nature and should not replace advice from qualified professionals who understand your individual circumstances.

Every conversation starts somewhere. The resources and organisations below may help you continue the conversation, connect with support and access trusted information and guidance.

A note from stephanie

The inspiration for The BB Crew comes from lived experience. As a parent of a child with ongoing healthcare needs, Stephanie understands that hospitals, appointments, treatments, and healthcare conversations can become a regular part of family life — often bringing a mix of emotions for both children and the adults supporting them.

Over time, she came to recognise how important gentle conversations, connection, and shared language can be in helping children feel seen, supported, and included throughout these experiences.

The BB Crew was created to help make those conversations feel a little easier - supporting children and families through story, connection, and everyday moments together.

Every Child. Every Feeling. Every Conversation.
