about the author
Stephanie March is an educator, consumer health advocate and the creator of The BB Crew.
Stephanie trained and worked as an occupational therapist before later becoming a primary school teacher, supporting children’s learning, wellbeing and emotional development. While she no longer practices in either profession, these experiences continue to strongly influence her work and advocacy today.
Alongside her professional background, Stephanie and her family are very familiar with accessing paediatric healthcare services. Her son lives with a rare genetic medical condition, requiring ongoing monitoring, care, and treatment, meaning hospitals have been a regular part of family life for many years.
Today, Stephanie lives and works in regional South Australia, where she and her husband run a broadacre cropping and livestock farming business producing wheat, barley, lentils and sheep for wool and meat production. While Stephanie loves being hands-on around the farm whenever possible, she predominantly manages many of the governance, administration and financial aspects of the business.
She is passionate about rural health equity, lived-experience advocacy, strengthening healthcare systems and supporting children and families to feel informed, confident, connected and included through their healthcare journeys.
The BB Crew reflects this approach - combining professional expertise, lived experience and a deep respect for children and families. Created as a gentle conversation starter, The BB Crew helps children and the adults around them navigate feelings, health experiences and everyday conversations in ways that feel safe, flexible and supportive.
The BB Crew is a MERCI CO initiative, created to help keep the health conversation alive.
